Someone yelling or arguing with you? Well, you know what that means. At that moment, you are the most important person in their world. They made a choice to chew on your backside. You (or your perceived actions) were meaningful enough to put you on a pedestal and light you up.
Some life decisions—education, careers, partners, et al—take considerable thought. But choosing whether you yell at someone in traffic, or flip someone off, or tell them you love them, or loathe them, or open the door for them, or slam it in their face—has a common denominator. Choice. You probably put more thought into some choices than others, but, they are all choices. Telling your partner you love them is a choice (based on feelings and desires). Telling someone to screw off? Also a choice.
That said, this one thing is true. And it should not be considered lightly: When someone chooses to spend time with you, it’s a compliment. Of all the places they could be, of all those they could be with, at that moment they choose you.
Is that a good thing or a bad thing? Only you can decide. In life, you’ll get to make a lot of choices. And over time, all the choices you make will add-up; building a mosaic that reveals your true character to the world. Choose wisely.
It’s your adventure.
